About Me:
Jean Camilo grew up in Cali, Colombia, raised in a dangerous part of the city and seeing the world mostly through screens: documentaries on prehistoric creatures and ancient civilizations that continue to inspire her work. She became a first-generation American at the age of 11, and recently graduated from Pratt Institute with a Bachelor’s degree in illustration. Drawing on her life experience as an outsider, she takes interest in the surreal and the monstrous as her subjects, along with the aesthetics of mass media and the Internet.
